The Rotary Club of Pocklington and Market Weighton are fully sponsoring a place on this years week long Rotary Youth Leadership Award course (RYLA)which is to be held on two separate weeks  26th to 31st July and 2nd to the 7th August. Transport to and from the course will be provided for the successful candidate. The course is designed to allow young people to experience at first hand the challenge of leadership. It is open to young men and women who are over 16 at the start and under 18 on the day the course concludes.

The course contains a mixture of: physical and mental challenges that allow participants to experience Leadership, Team Building, Communication and Problem Solving skills.

These are based on both indoor and outdoor activities such as: – Walking ? Problem Solving ? Water Activities ? Orienteering – Raft building ? Presentations

Rotary has been running these courses for over 20 years and has helped over 1,000 young adults to develop their personal skills as a leader. Past awardees have gone on to enjoy successful careers. Rotary is proud of the system of helping to develop the leaders of tomorrow and looks forward to meeting and working with many more in the future.

The course is held at Hebden Hey, a Scout hostel situated in the Hardcastle Crags valley above Hebden Bridge. The course dates are either Sunday 26th July 2015 to Friday 31st July 2015 or from Sunday 2nd August 2015 to Friday 7th August 2015; with a total of 64 places, 32 on each course. (Candidates attend one course only)
