The Lions bring Santa to town
Age UK receive their award
Talk-Talk the national communications company have recently agreed a sponsorship deal with Pocklington Town Council to provide funding to enhance the Christmas Lights display in the town and to support the late Night Shopping Event on Wednesday 7th December starting at 5.30pm. The evening was one of the most successful in recent years with choirs, local band, majorettes and street entertainers taking part. The local Lions Club had a really busy evening at the Pocklington Arts Centre where they arranged for Father Christmas to meet and give small presents to younger children. The retailers all did really well with many stopping open – the prize for the best dressed-up shop staff went to Chris Clubley & Co. the local Estate Agents the Wolds Coffee Shop and save the Childrens shop were also awarded prizes.
The best dressed window competition was won for the third year by ‘Age UK’ their window was exceptionally good. The Fresh Food Delicatessen shared 2nd prize with English’s Pet Shop with Atkinson;s Delicatessen being given third and Celebrations being Highly commended for their display.
