An ERYC councillor has recently requested information on the MINIMUM requirements for being a town councillor. With respect, if you can only manage to fulfill the minimum requirements then this is not the job for you. The legal answer is 1 full council meeting in 6 months, however this does not benefit the town or it’s inhabitants. Current councillors attend an average of 2 council meetings per month, and often attend other voluntary committees too. They nearly all also volunteer with other groups and charities within the town, and help with council events and the planning of these events. Most councillors pop into the office weekly to keep up to date, and are emailed daily with correspondence from the office. It’s a rewarding job, please contact us if you are interested and want to make a difference to the town.
