On Friday 1st June 2012 the judging took place for the Best Dressed Window competition to commemorate the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee.  Councillor Chad Chadwick the Chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Tony Marron the mayor of Pocklington and Hilary Angle the Vice Chairman of the East Riding Artists Association were the judges. Sixteen shops and premises entered the competition with the first prize  of two tickets for the garden party at Burnby hall on Monday being awarded to Blooming Occasions.  They had made a crown of flowers which was most impressive.  The judges also Highly Commended Allsorts, Celebrations and Bunty and Co for their splendid displays.  A Special Award was given to the Arts Centre for exhibiting portraits of the Queen drawn by local schoolchildren.
