The proposed new Aldi store on Limb Road
On Tuesday 19th October 2009 local councillors reviewed the plans for the new Aldi store at their regular planning meeting. Whilst they approve of the location and a further supermarket coming to the town they felt the design of the building was not in keeping with the site which is adjacent to the conservation area. They felt a pitched roof and less glass in the structure would fit in more.
However they are only consultees in the planning process and the decision will be made by the planning committee of East Riding Council.
It was noted that the end of the building presently occupied by Travis Perkins is to be restored and this council have asked Aldi if they would support a youth drop in centre in the building. At meeting with young people it is something they always ask for.
