Local news: St. George's Day celebration marked at Pocklington
PocklingtonTown Council hosted a celebration to mark St Georges Day one day late on Saturday 24th April 2010. The Ebor Morris dancers came into the town and gave two performances on Pavement which had been closed to traffic specially to host the event. The Yorkshire Wolds Natural Apple Juice company kindly donated apple juice for the public to taste. (This is a local product - the manfacturer can be contacted on rayk@mktw.karoo.co.uk Pupils from Pocklington Community Junior School took part in a St George's Poster competition and the Pocklington Town Cryer, Geoff Shearsby, supervised a 'Junior Town Cryer competition. Pocklington Infants made a fantastic dragon which was exhibited in ther foyer of Pocklington Arts Centre. Attached are some photographs of the event.
