Parking in Pocklington - update October 2009
A preliminary report from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s working party on car parking charges announced that our three car parks were to become ‘charged’ in line with other conurbations in East Yorkshire. Pocklington Town Council felt this was not the right thing to do at this economically challenging time and strongly objected. Councillor Marron became the ‘lead’ councillor for this project and was instrumental in organising Public meetings and a march against the plans.
Currently the working group are submitting further proposals to the ‘cabinet’ of ERYC but no date for this has yet been given. This council are to ask our district councillors to speak against the proposals, on the residents behalf, prior to the cabinet making a decision.
