Councillor Jeff Shepherd suggested organising a memorial to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the service of their country since World War 2. This was agreed by Pocklington Town Council who, with the help of residents and publicity in the Pocklington Post, have compiled a list of those from Pocklington and the surrounding area who have been killed whilst serving their country since 1945. Seven names are currently being etched on the memorial tablet by a local man, Paul Sandiland, who works for Rotherhams the Monumental Masons from Holme Upon Spalding Moor. Here the Town Mayor Councillor Graham Perry speaks to Paul who is busy at work. The memorial will be unveiled at the Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday 13th November.
