On Saturday 12th September 2009 the Tour of Britain passed hrough Pocklington on the way to York. Over 100 cyclists took part in this first leg which started from Scunthorpe and finished in York. By the time the leaders reached Pocklington they had established a ten minute lead which provided a foretaste of the excitment to come. The remaining cylists were tightly bunched as they embarked on a sprint through the town. The weather was fine and sunny which created the ideal atmosphere in which to greet the cyclists.
