The walk to Millington

On Thursday 19th August 2010 a party of 15 from the Pays de Racan area of the Loire Valley visited Pocklington as part of the French twinning.  The visit coincided with the 21st anniversary of the formation of the twinning which consists of  Civic heads together with various groups of dancers, walkers and footballers.  The visitors stayed with host families in the Pocklington area with a full itinerary being planned by the twinning group.  A wonderful time was enjoyed by everyone who took part.  On the Friday the party  visited  the KP Club at Kilnwick Percy, took part in a country walk to Millington, enjoyed  a 'pub' lunch at Millington, a visit to All Saints Church, attended a Civic Reception at The Old Courthouse and then a garden party at the home of Dr Robert and Councillor Rowan Blake-James,  On the Saturday the party visited the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington where guides Eric and Kathy Humphries gave a bi-lingual presentation on the help the Free-French had given to the war effort during WW2.  That evening a Barbeque was held at Ashfield Farm, Canal Head hosted by Councillor Kay West and husband David.   The group travelled back to France on the Sunday with some happy memories.
