Energy Saving Exhibition
24th and 25th April 2010
Burnby Hall, Pocklington

Pocklington Town Council are taking the lead on making all of the local population and local businesses fully aware of the high cost and environmental impact of consuming energy inefficiently and/or excessively – and also of the opportunities for ‘self generation’ ie solar, wind turbines, etc.
As part of the informing process the council is arranging an ‘Energy Saving Exhibition’ to which all local residents and local businesses will be invited.
At the Energy Saving Exhibition we are arranging to have a range of creditable and proven companies and suppliers displaying their energy saving and energy generation goods and services.
I am contacting you to see if, in principle, your organisation wishes to be invited to display (with support technical staff) at the Energy Saving Exhibition.
We intend to have on display a broad range, and mix, of energy saving and energy generating goods and services.

The exhibition will be open 10am to 4pm on both days. Free entry to the exhibition and free car parking nearby.
Further information can be obtained from Pocklington Town Council on 01759 304851 or from Councillor Perry (Exhibition Organiser) 01759 304834 or 07703 593403.
Background
        ·            Pocklington has a population of 7,600 (2001 census) with approximately 3,000 houses plus local businesses and shops
        ·            The surrounding areas will also be invited to the Energy Saving Exhibition.
        ·            Businesses from the adjacent Pocklington Industrial Estate will also be informed of, and invited to, the Energy Exhibition.
        ·            Pocklington has been selected by the Energy Saving Trust to receive assistance with their energy saving initiatives.
        ·            York Energy Trust is also supporting Pocklington in developing its energy saving measures.
        ·            Pocklington Town Council have set a target of 10% overall energy reduction. This requires investment into proven energy saving means.
        ·            It is hoped to have officers from the appropriate government departments at the exhibition to give advice on grants that are available.
        ·            If successful the Pocklington Community Programme will be used nationally as a good example of the way to proceed.
        ·            There will be active local publicity leading up to the event.
Your involvement in this interesting project would be welcomed.
