Debris recovered from the Culvert near Post Office

On Monday 22nd December 2008 Aquajet commenced to clear the culverts in Pocklington of debris found when a CCTV examination took place after the floods in June 2007.   The work has been commissioned by the Environment Agency following a detailed report by flood exprert Peter Kite commissioned by Pocklington Town Council and is part of the on-going work to minimise further flooding to the town.

Starting at London Bridge the workers, in full protective clothing, went into the culvert and manually recovered items including metal frames, concrete blocks and branches. A further CCTV examination has been made by hand-held camera during the operation showing that in the main the culvert is is good condition.  The retrieval of debris continued down the culvert and is ongoing for two days.
