On Friday 18th May 2012 the annual Mayor-Making ceremony was held at Pocklington School.  Councillor Tony Marron was appointed Mayor with his consort Fiona Rutledge. His deputy will be Councillor Ann Cox. Councillor Marron replaces Councillor Graham Perry who completed his year of office that evening.  During the ceremony town plaques were presented to the Pocklington 1st rugby team who had recently gained promotion together with the widow of Pastor Tony Wake to acknowledge his support for the council by acting as Chaplain over many years.   The Mayor's Award for prolonged public service was awarded to Julia Gregory for her work with the Wolds Wonders.
