Councillor Richard Bryon appointed Mayor of Pocklington
At the annual Mayor-Making ceremony held at Burnby Hall Pocklington on Thursday 17th May 2007 Councillor Richard Bryon was appointed Mayor and Councillor Jeff Shepherd his deputy. In his acceptance speech Councillor Bryon said he would make one of his aims to achieve a new library fit for a town of the size of Pocklington. He was also keen to promote recycling intiatives and hopes to see a green waste re-cycling scheme introduced for the town shortly. He also looks forward to hearing the results of the Breathing Spaces bid to enhance the West Green open space which is due in late May. The Mayor's charities this year are The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and MacMillan Nurses.
After the ceremony civic guests from around the county and local residents enjoyed refreshments.
