After consultation with allotment tenants of The Mile allotments in Pocklington Town Councillors have agreed to modify the ban on the use of hosepipes.  Unattended use of hosepipes will still be banned as will sprinkler systems.  Users of hose pipes will have to give way to those using watering cans and buckets.  The original decision to ban hosepipe use came after last years long hot summer.  The council wish to encourage allotment holders to catch as much water as possible from the greenhouse and shed roofs and will include this as a condition of permissions for such structures.  Should water bills again become excessive the council reserve the right to re-impose the ban.  The ban on having bonfires willl remain.
