On Saturday 2nd May 2009 a group of Pocklington people attended a reception at the Dindassiere Village Hall in the canton of Neuvy-le-Roi to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the original twinning agreement.
In October 2007 Pocklington Town council passed a resolution to go forward to attain Fairtrade status from this decision a small steering group called Pocklington F.L.A.G (Fairtrade and Local produce Action Group) was formed.
On Thursday 9th April Sheila Johnson and Pat Brockway judges for the Yorkshire in Bloom competition visited Pocklington on their spring visit.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has set a budget for the next financial year (1st April 2009 to 31st March 2010) of £257.1 million, which requires a council tax at Band D of £1,194.29, an increase of £44.83 or 3.9 per cent.
On Thursday 15th January 2009 Councillors Martin Cooper, Steve Elliott and Graham Perry accompanied staff from the Environment Agency on a walk of the whole length of Pocklington Beck from Canal Head to the northern town boundary.
