Les & Oriel Wing judging the allotments

On Tuesday 3rd July 2007 Les and Oriel Wing from Filey visited Pocklington to judge the 140 allotments on The Mile for the annual allotment competition.  The judges, being allotment holders themselves, appreciated the growing conditions this year are difficult and this was taken into account when judging.

The judges found some of the plots were well maintained with good crop variety whilst others needed tender loving care on natures ability to grow things in the wrong places!

The winners of the competition are to be announced at the full council meeting to be held on 12th July 2007 at the Old Courthouse in Pocklington.  The winner receives a trophy and next years rental fee will be waived.  Those placed second & third will be given certificates and have half their rents waived.
