On Monday 22nd May 2006 the Annual Meeting of Pocklington Town Council took place at Burnby Hall when Councillor June Malcolm was appointed Town Mayor.  Cllr Jo Green handed over the chain of office and took the opportunity of recalling some of the highpoints of her year.  She had enjoyed attending other towns to experience how they operated which had been very enlightening.  Throughout the year she had been ably assisted by her husband, Peter, who had acted as Mayor’s consort.  Last summer she undertook a coast to coast charity cycle ride the proceeds of which had gone to her chosen charity the Wold Haven Residents Fund.

Cllr Green recalled the visit of the Chechnian Dancers to Pocklington who she found to be delightful.  Despite their troubles at home they gave a marvellous performance which was very well received. Finally Cllr Green paid tribute to fellow councillor Norma Jennings who despite family illnesses had continued to attend meetings and complete the revision of the council standing orders.

Councillor Richard Bryon was appointed Deputy Mayor with Rev. Alan Spademan from Pocklington Community Church  the Chaplain to the council.  After the event the Civic guests and town residents enjoyed a buffet and a glass of wine with the new Mayor.
