Flood Report Launch Pocklington Arts Centre Thursday 10th April 2008

Pocklington Town Council are holding a public meeting at Pocklington Arts Centre on Thursday 10th April 2008 to launch the report on last years floods in the town.  The meeting commences at 7pm to which everyone is invited.  Peter Kite Associates  were commissioned to report on the cause of the flood and to recommend actions to minimise future problems.  Peter Kite is to present his report together with photographs and plans at the meeting where copies of the report will be available.

1855 William Watson map of Pocklington now on sale

You may recall a previous article concerning an 1844 map of Pocklington which has been photographically reproduced and available for sale. It appears likely this map was drawn by a William Watson who was brought up in Seaton Ross. An index book to accompany the map is currently being re-produced and should be available shortly. Pocklington Town Council have recently commissioned the photographic reproduction of the 1855 map of the town which was drawn by William Watson which shows the outline of houses together with the occupants and their occupations. This map is now on sale from either Pocklington Town Council Office at The Old Courthouse, 37 George Street, Pocklington YO42 2DH or The Frost Studio Market Street Pocklington. It is priced at £45 including packing with postage being charged at £4 for delivery in Britain.
